As fashion constantly changes with the change in generation, the fashion at different decades is usually called by the decade in front of fashion. Say for fashion in between 1970-1979 is usually known as 70s fashion.

There is lot to know about the 70s fashion. Thus, let us try and know a bit about the fashion that existed in the decade of 70s. When we talk about cloths, this decade was no longer lacking back. The most popular clothing was miniskirts, bell bottom and hippie, which was also there in 60s. There were many more trends that had come up in 70s. Platform shoes had come up with soles 2-4 inches thick. These were greatly popular among both sexes, and all the ages.

Both men and women wore wide-legged, flared jeans and trousers, which was the latest fashion that existed in 70s decade. This decade started initially with the hippie, tattered jeans, tie dye shirts, wide-legged, flared jeans and trousers. Miniskirts were there, but in addition to that there were calf length dresses called "midis" and ankle-length dresses called "maxis". They provided the women with three different varieties of skirts with different lengths. This was usually the trend of early 70s.

In the late 70s the discos became very popular. So it was obvious that the fashion for clothes had to change. There was a drastic change in the fashion and greater changes were seen in the men’s fashion. They started wearing three-piece suit and along with it flared trousers, waist coats, and adopted various other changes, which were then very much visible.

Hairstyles in 70s were also very revealing. The women had a long hair and usually dressed them with a side parting. Some more hairstyles are gypsy style, flicked style etc. Cosmetics and make up was liked by the women. At the day time, make up which gave natural looks were the trend and at evening something which gave glamorous look was more appreciated. As of going to discos and parties, it was the trend in 70s; so they needed some glamorous make-up in the evening to make them look much more attractive.

70s fashion was mainly characterized by more or less everything that goes with style, ranging from clunky to soft and feminine. It was a tumultuous time, throughout which feminists were against the Vietnam War and Watergate Scandal – hot topics in the media collectively with global pollution fears. These two events were the inspiration for the fashion designers to design cutting edge, as well as more comforting items and bringing new innovation in the world of fashion.

The most popular fashion trend that moved up in 70s was punk rock persona. This even continued in early 80s, along with some other newer designs. Punk rock arena style was so attractive that one could hardly neglect it or think of not having it. Tattoo designing had become the latest craze and fashion for the youngster of that generation.

Heading along with the fashion was the craze among all, but it might not have been meant for all. You should know very well what will suit you and then go for it. The most important thing to be kept in mind is that whatever you wear, you should be confident to carry it along very well in front of others.
