In the world of fashion the word retro fashion is very commonly heard. It is a rule, which shows the shift that is “old is suddenly new”. You can make the best use of 70s fashion by mixing it with the modern looks. The target behind doing this and having a modern retro fashion is to have something new in your collection, which does not look a typical Charlie's Angels set. Since seventies comes after sixties the change in fashion was not much and was a continuation of the former. The changes were seen in the late 70s and there were more accessories added up along with your clothes.

The 70s clothes were so fashionable and stylish that one could hardly neglect this. As it carried forward the trend of sixties – tie dye shirt, hippie, worn jeans, hip huggers and bell bottom jeans were popular even in 70s. Jacket made of jeans was also growing in popularity, which the wearer could design by themselves by simply crafting any message in it, as per there wish.

What about the women’s clothing of 70s? What they liked to wear? Women are very unpredictable, when it comes to fashion and clothing. A girl wearing a worn out jeans may be wearing sizzling pants very soon and that too, with a long knee socks, high heels etc. Women wore skirts that were generally of three types – some were miniskirts, maxi-skirts and long ankle length skirts. Now the tops, which they wore, were halter tops with enticing pants or evening trousers. Tunics and Indian fabrics continued to get popular. The trouser worn by the women were high-waisted, flared satin trousers or denims, the second usually adorned with rhinestones, metallic-colored lame, very old velvet dresses, satin hot pants, sequined bra tops, etc.

Jeans with low waist hip huggers and bell bottom were the trends. The wearer of the jeans gave it even a different look at certain times, in order to look different and smart. They bleached their jeans using tie dye techniques, embroidery, attractive patches, and metal studs. The tops that could be worn by both male and female were Tight-fitting ribbed tops.

More changes were to be seen with the 70s clothes of men as compared to sixties. The shirt worn by men was bright in color and tight fitting with huge collars. The look of Hippie still persisted and they still wore t-shirts along with jeans. Though there were so many changes, some believed that it was not good as the men do not even like watching there photos of that time. Some even believe that this was one of the tasteless eras in the fashion world.

The t-shirts were the popular trend among the teenage boys and that too, the t-shirt, which had iron imprinted on some messages or name was in great demand during the 70s. The young men kept the cigarettes under the sleeve and made it trend of that era. It was in 70s that the three-piece suit came back into fashion. These suits were worn along with the shirts with broad collar. Ties were excluded sometimes, when they went for dance club.

Early 70s fashion also came out with romantic fashions, which became every popular. Some of the fashion designers like Yves St Laurent, Ossie Clark, and Zandra Rhodes of 70s, which has helped the fashion to come out in new shape. As the time progressed the people began to wear dresses of flashier style, which though covered their body, showed their body simultaneously. 70s were an era of casual time in the fashion, to have fun and be stylish.
